What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator position at Summit County Government (CO)?

• Operate on a variety of heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, compactors, forklifts, and other equipment used to move and process materials on site.
• Load and feed processing equipment, manage stockpiles, and keep material flowing through the landfill, recycling, and composting areas.
• Assist with sorting landfill trash, recyclables, and household hazardous waste collections at the SCRAP facility, and perform additional manual tasks as needed to support landfill and recycling operations
• Transport and haul landfill or recycled materials on site and at drop-off centers and maintain locations to ensure efficiency and safety for all Summit County Residents.
• Perform daily equipment checks, fueling, greasing, and basic maintenance before and after operation
• Keep work areas clean, control litter, and maintain safe traffic flow around equipment and customers, working closely with leads and other operators to manage daily workloads and changing site conditions
• Work outdoors year-round in a fast-paced environment that includes dust, noise, weather, and uneven terrainMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be 21 years of age
• Valid Colorado Driver License and Clear Motor Vehicle Records in the State of Colorado.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND FORMAL TRAINING:
At least 1 to 2 years operating heavy equipment. Hold or obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), minimum of a Class B with Tanker Endorsement within 6 months based on original hire date.

Salary : $31 - $35
