What are the responsibilities and job description for the Autism Program position at Summit County Educational Service Center?
Position: Intervention Specialist in Autism Alternative School
Anticipated positions for 2026-2027 school year
Location: KidsFirst/Tops Program (located in Copley-Fairlawn SCD)
Reports to: Program Coordinator
Summary/Objective: Teach school subjects, basic academic and life processes skills to special needs students.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Intervention Specialist required. Moderate to Intensive preferred.
- Valid ODE license.
- Previous experience in working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with children diagnosed with special needs and behavior challenges in an alternative educational program.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of related service personnel in providing educational programming to students diagnosed with ASD.
- Ability to provide appropriate educational activities and opportunities for children with a goal of enhancing their educational, social, and emotional growth.
- Ability to maintain effective communication and collaboration with administration, district of residence, and families concerning matters related to students in the program.
- Other qualifications the Board/Superintendent may find permissible for this position.
