Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role located in Akron, OH, for a Certified Child Life Specialist at the Summit County Domestic Relations Court. The Child Life Specialist will work with children and families involved in domestic relations cases, providing emotional and psychological support. Daily responsibilities include assessing the needs of children, creating coping strategies, delivering age-appropriate education about the court process, and facilitating open communication between children and family members or legal representatives. The role requires collaboration with other court professionals to ensure the holistic well-being of children in emotionally charged situations.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Coping and emotional resiliency techniques, especially in stressful situations
- Proficiency in Communication to effectively interact with children, families, and court personnel
- Educational background or experience in Psychology and child development
- Demonstrated ability and experience in Working With Children, particularly in stressful or transitional environments
- Experience in Education, including the ability to deliver age-appropriate information and facilitate understanding
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable demeanor
- Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Education, Psychology, or a related field; Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification
- Familiarity with family court systems or child welfare services is a plus
