Job Summary

Summit Counseling Services is well known throughout the entire State of North Dakota. We began in Western ND (the oilfields) and expanded to multiple locations. In the last year we have restructured the entire agency due to some difficulties with insurance reimbursements. The restructuring is complete and we have shifted our focus to the Bismarck/Mandan region for in person therapies and telehealth throughout the state.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Therapist/Counselor to join our mental health/addiction team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive psychotherapy and counseling services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults. Your expertise will help clients navigate complex emotional, behavioral, and psychological challenges, fostering resilience and promoting overall well-being. You will utilize evidence-based practices and innovative therapeutic techniques to deliver personalized care in both clinical and telehealth settings. Duties

• Conduct mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to develop tailored treatment plans.
• Provide individual, group, family, and child/youth therapy utilizing modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and behavior management strategies.
• Facilitate intake sessions to gather comprehensive client histories and establish therapeutic goals aligned with clinical documentation standards.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, clinical ethical guidelines, and EMR/EHR systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, and case managers to coordinate holistic patient care..
• Participate in telehealth therapy sessions to expand access to mental health services across diverse populations.
• Conduct specialized counseling for clients with co-occurring disorders such as addiction or developmental disabilities.
• Implement treatment planning strategies that incorporate ICD coding for billing and medical records accuracy.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in social work, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Valid licensure or certification as a therapist or counselor (e.g. LMSW, LCSW, LAPC, LPC, LPCC) according to state requirements.
• Proven experience working with children, adolescents, or adults in outpatient or inpatient settings.
• Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices including CBT, behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
• Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for diagnosis documentation and billing purposes.
• Excellent communication skills for client engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Ability to handle crisis situations effectively with crisis intervention techniques.
• Proficiency in clinical documentation standards using EMR/EHR platforms while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Telehealth experience is highly desirable for providing remote counseling services.
• Knowledge of medical terminology related to mental health assessments and patient care is advantageous.
