What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pest Control Technician — Experienced or Will Train position at Summit City Pest Control?
Most people head for the door when they see a spider in the basement. We're hiring the person who heads toward it.
Summit City Pest Control has protected Fort Wayne homes and businesses since 2012. We're local, family owned, licensed and fully insured through the Office of Indiana State Chemist (License #B244337), and a member of the Indiana Pest Management Association. We're growing, and we need one more good person.
We call this role Pest Solutions Technician — because you're not spraying baseboards and leaving. You're figuring out how they got in, what's keeping them there, and what it takes to end it.
What you'll do:
- Inspect homes and businesses to find pest activity, entry points, and the conditions causing them
- Treat for spiders, bed bugs, mosquitoes, ants, roaches, and general pests
- Rodent work, trapping, baiting, and exclusion
- Get into crawl spaces, attics, and basements to find the actual source
- Explain what you found and what you're doing about it, in plain language
- Keep your truck, your equipment, and your documentation straight
- Earn and maintain your Indiana registered technician status, we pay for it
What you'll earn:
- $18.00/hour starting, with up to $20.00/hour for relevant experience or an existing credential
- Overtime at time-and-a-half for hours over 40
- Raises tied to certifications you earn, not to how long you've been here
What we provide:
- Paid training and Indiana registered technician certification
- Paid holidays, paid vacation, and PTO
- Company vehicle, uniforms, and all equipment and PPE
- Employee discount on services
What you need:
- 18 years of age or older - required for pesticide application under Indiana law
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets our insurance carrier's standards
- Able to lift up to 75 lbs and work in crawl spaces and attics, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Comfortable working around live insects and rodents, including bed bugs
- Clear communication - you'll be in people's homes, and you're the whole company to them that day
- Professional appearance consistent with our uniform standards
- You show up on time. Every stop, every day. This is a route business and it falls apart without it.
Experience is a plus, not a requirement. Pest control, lawn and turf, HVAC, plumbing, building maintenance or any route-based service background puts you at the top of the list. No experience at all? If you're reliable and want to learn a trade, we'll teach you the rest.
Why work here instead of one of the big outfits: you'll learn the whole trade, not one slice of it. You'll get your certification on our dime. And you'll work directly with the owner, a licensed applicator with fourteen years in this business, not three layers of management.
Straight talk: if you're looking for a place to coast, this isn't it. If you want to learn something you can build a career on and get paid while you learn it, send your resume right away as we are looking for only 1 candidate at this time. Don’t delay and pass up your chance at a great career.
