Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks such as manual transmission tractor-trailers, and flatbeds for local deliveries
- Load and unload freight using proper techniques and equipment like forklifts when necessary
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations
- Follow designated routes efficiently while adhering to traffic laws and company policies
- Manage delivery schedules by coordinating with dispatch to meet deadlines
- Maintain accurate logs of hours driven, deliveries made, and vehicle maintenance reports
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues promptly
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of truck operated
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty vehicles
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles
- Strong knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations for efficient route driving
- Excellent safety record with a focus on responsible driving practices
Preferred skills include familiarity with freight handling across different truck types, experience with load securing on flatbeds , and the ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks.
