AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/30/2026

At Summit, we build equipment that’s engineered to perform when the well is on the line. Our tools are designed, tested, and manufactured for operators who demand reliability in the harshest conditions — no excuses, no compromises. As an Applications Engineer, you become part of the team that ensures every downhole component we manufacture lives up to that standard. You’ll turn real-world field performance into intelligence that sharpens our designs, strengthens our reputation, and keeps Summit mission-ready on every run.

SUMMARY:

The Applications Engineer plays a critical role in evaluating field performance of Summit equipment, identifying optimization opportunities, and translating real-world job results into actionable technical and product improvements. This position partners closely with field personnel, engineering, operations, and leadership to ensure Summit’s tools continue to perform with the reliability and ruggedness our customers expect.

In addition to technical evaluation and product support responsibilities, this role is also accountable for collecting, analyzing, and generating meaningful performance data that supports marketing, product positioning, and customer education.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze equipment performance from field operations and develop recommended best practices, design improvements, or corrective actions.

• Support design processes by modeling components, creating design packages, and assisting with initial manufacturing runs, collaborating with the engineering team.

• Participate in meetings with internal teams, customers, vendors, and field operators to communicate findings, progress, and technical recommendations.

• Support the engineering and sales teams with the development of technical documents, proposals, and customer-facing presentations.

• Collaborate with the engineering team on new product development, prototyping, testing, design iterations, operating procedures, and resolving issues in both manufacturing and field environments.

• Work directly with field operations to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment challenges.

• Uphold and promote ethical engineering standards as defined in Summit’s handbook.

• Engage in cross-training across multiple product lines and departments to expand knowledge and enhance team effectiveness.

• Collect, analyze, and interpret performance data from field runs; transform findings into clear reports, visuals, and insights that support marketing initiatives, product positioning, and customer communication.

• Partner with the marketing and sales teams to provide accurate, data-driven performance narratives and technical validations that strengthen Summit’s brand messaging and market presence.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of five years of industry experience with downhole tools or well construction equipment.

Skills & Abilities

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.

• Solid understanding of mechanical systems, oilfield downhole equipment, and industry standards/practices.

• Commitment to applying appropriate engineering standards, policies, and procedures.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Willingness to own complex technical challenges and drive them to resolution.
