Summary/Objective
The Dean of Students supports the School Director in the day-to-day operations of the school building, focusing primarily on student behavior, school safety, and student conduct. This role also assists with staff support, coordination of services, and promoting a positive and effective school climate.
Responsibilities
- Implements Board policies and school regulations
- Recommends, designs, and implements programs to support school needs
- Participates in administrative and team meetings (e.g., TBT/BLT)
- Assists in staff in-service and professional development
- Supports the recruitment, assignment, training, and hiring of school personnel
- Supervises student attendance reporting and supports attendance improvement efforts
- Coordinates with support service providers
- Encourages and enforces high standards of student conduct and behavior management
- Leads or participates in staff meetings as needed
- Ensures adherence to building health and safety regulations
- Shares responsibility for overall school safety initiatives
- Oversees inventory control, security, and accountability procedures
- Assists in the preparation and management of the school budget
- Oversees activity accounts and other school finances
- Contributes to developing and implementing the student handbook and code of conduct
- Supports supervision of school-sponsored and co-curricular activities
- Maintains effective public relations and represents the school positively in the community
- Remains current on trends and developments in education and student services
- Performs other duties as assigned by the School Principal or Director
- Assists with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and student behavior management throughout the school
- Supports the School Principal with general school operations and leadership

Minimum Employment Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Teaching experience preferred
- Special education training preferred
- Successful completion of a criminal records check through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and/or Federal Bureau of Investigation
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees
