Position Objectives:
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a 10 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant including chemical feed systems, activated sludge process, solids handling process, and pump stations
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes laboratory analyses, instrument calibration, sampling, and record keeping in electronic data management system
- Makes plant inspections and records data on log sheet
- Interprets process control data and makes appropriate adjustments to the process.
- Operates heavy equipment including a boom truck, front-end loader, and forklift
- Completes routine maintenance and repairs on equipment
- Monitors and controls plant processes via the SCADA system
- Develops basic knowledge of the drinking water distribution system
- Participates in the on-call/duty rotation (weekly) including 4 hours on Friday, and 2 hours on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
Minimum Requirements:
A South Carolina Biological Wastewater Treatment Class C or D license is preferred; A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
