About the role

The Foreman is responsible for leading field operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution. This role involves independently prioritizing tasks, studying project plans, and overseeing daily preparation and transportation of equipment, trucks, and barges. The Foreman maintains clear communication with the office, manages tool and equipment inventories, ensures strict adherence to safety protocols, and fosters a productive work environment. By providing strong leadership, maintaining operational readiness, and addressing on-site needs in real time, the Foreman plays a critical role in supporting project timelines, crew performance, and overall company success.


What you'll do

  • Display consistent independent decision-making and prioritize tasks to maximize efficiency in field operations.
  • Study diagrams and blueprints to determine the dimensions and layout of structures or forms to be constructed.
  • Ensure all company vehicles and equipment, including trucks and barges, are cleaned, fueled, and ready for the next day's operations.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip inspections of trucks and barges to ensure they are safe for operation.
  • Prepare and have the crew ready to depart from Summerset by 7 AM each workday.
  • Safely transport and maneuver all company equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all tools on the barge, and report any broken or missing items immediately.
  • Measure materials and distances using appropriate tools such as squares, measuring tapes, or rulers for layout work.
  • Maintain constant communication with the office and expeditor regarding job status, additional parts and labor needs, changes to current jobs, and completed work for immediate billing and planning.
  • Recommend procedures for the maintenance or modification of facilities and equipment, including the replacement of machines and tools.
  • Ensure crew members adhere to safety practices, including wearing proper PPE and reporting workplace injuries immediately.
  • Responsible for the overall safety of the crew and the job site.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; or a degree in construction management or a related field is advantageous.
  • Proven experience as a Foreman or in a similar supervisory role within the construction or industrial sector.
  • Must be able to read simple blueprints and operate power tools.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Must be dependable and self-motivated.
  • Basic carpentry skills are a must.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA safety certification) may be required.

Working Conditions and Physical Efforts

  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying up to 100 pounds occasionally, in addition to using material handling equipment.
  • May be required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities require close vision assessments. Moderately loud noise levels when heavy machinery is running.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to swim.

Travel Requirements: All local travel to job sites.


The pay range for this role is:

30 - 40 USD per hour(Madison)
