Staff Accountant

Summers McNea CPA is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our team.
Summers McNea CPA is a large local full-service accounting firm in Billings, Montana, committed to being responsive to our clients’ needs in assurance, accounting, tax, business growth, advisory services, business valuation, and litigation support. Our friendly staff and shareholders are dedicated to providing personalized service and developing value-added business strategies for the clients and communities we serve.
We are currently searching for an individual to perform client accounting services and become an important part of our growing team.
Responsibilities & Expectations
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Working with firm clients on payroll preparation, payroll tax deposit calculations, quarterly and annual payroll reporting, and year-end 1099 reporting.
- Performing monthly, quarterly, and annual bookkeeping services for a variety of clients and industries, including:
- Bank reconciliations
- Data entry and transaction review
- Reconciling accounts
- Trial balance preparation
- Assisting with financial statement preparation and tax return filing requirements
- Collaborating with clients and firm staff to provide accurate and timely accounting support.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants should possess:
- Strong computer skills, including experience with:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- QuickBooks
- Strong communication, analytical, and writing skills
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and multitasking ability
- Ability to think critically, analyze financial information, and solve problems efficiently
- Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred
- Accounting degree required
