As a Field Applications Engineer, you will serve as the critical link between our R&D team and customer production environments. You will deploy our systems at manufacturing sites, tune them for real-world conditions, and provide technical support when issues arise. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, direct customer engagement, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities
As a Field Applications Engineer, you will serve as the critical link between our R&D team and customer production environments. You will deploy our systems at manufacturing sites, tune them for real-world conditions, and provide technical support when issues arise. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, direct customer engagement, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities
- Install and validate our vision hardware/software at customer manufacturing sites
- Ensure reliable system operation on embedded platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson
- Diagnose, resolve technical issues remotely and on-site using logs, testing, and screen. sharing
- Guide customers through configuration changes and verify successful implementations
- Document solutions and maintain an internal knowledge base of common issues and fixes
- Collaborate with engineering by submitting bug reports, translating customer challenges, and validating fixes
- Build, maintain internal test stations to validate features, configurations, and system updates
- Run experiments to evaluate system performance across parts, materials, and production conditions.
- Develop robotics applications, automation workflows, and data tools for robot setup, monitoring, calibration, tool paths, and AI workflows
- Maintain lab test systems to validate features, evaluate performance, and support demos and pre-release testing.
- BS in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5 years of hands-on experience working with complex technical systems (automation, robotics, instrumentation, or similar).
- Proficiency with Linux and strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently and clearly communicate technical concepts to customers and internal teams.
- On-site in our Campbell facility
- 20–30% travel for installations across the U.S., Europe, Korea, and Japan, with ongoing remote customer support.
- Experience with robot programming (Fanuc, Kuka, UR, ABB, Omron)
- Familiarity/experience with calibration, metrology and CAD for designing fixtures or mounts.
- Industrial automation experience, including 3D sensing, point clouds, computer vision, or embedded/ARM systems.
- Python application development and experience in customer-facing technical roles (field service, applications engineering, or technical support)
- Proficiency in French, German, Korean, or Japanese
