Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Saw Operator to join our paper tube manufacturing team. The Saw Operator is responsible for cutting paper tubes to specified lengths using industrial saw equipment, ensuring accuracy, safety, and adherence to production standards. This position plays a critical role in maintaining workflow and meeting customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain circular saws and other cutting equipment used in the production of paper tubes.
- Measure and cut paper tubes to exact lengths according to work orders and customer specifications.
- Perform quality checks on finished cuts to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Read and interpret production orders, blueprints, or cut lists.
- Monitor saw performance and adjust settings for optimal operation.
- Ensure proper labeling and bundling of cut tubes for the next production step or shipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with basic machine maintenance and report mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience operating saws or machinery in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to measure accurately using tape measures or calipers.
- Basic math and mechanical skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to [50 lbs / appropriate weight].
- Understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Work Environment:
- Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and dust.
- Must wear safety gear including gloves, goggles, and hearing protection.
- Shift work may be required (currently only 1st shift)
