Part-Time Bookseller- Summer Beam Books – Philomath, Oregon
Pay: Starting at $18.00/hour
Schedule:
- Fridays: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Sundays: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Additional weekday hours may be available to cover vacations, special events, or busy seasons if desired.

What You'll Do
As a Bookseller, you'll help create an inviting experience for every customer while keeping the store organized, beautiful, and running smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
- Welcome customers with warmth and genuine hospitality.
- Help customers discover books they'll love.
- Operate our Shopify point-of-sale system.
- Process online orders and special orders.
- Receive, price, and shelve new inventory.
- Keep shelves organized and attractively merchandised.
- Maintain a clean, comfortable, and inspiring store environment.
- Open and close the bookstore independently.
- Assist with author events and community programs.
- Learn about new books and share recommendations with customers.
We're Looking For Someone Who Is...
- Friendly, dependable, and self-motivated.
- Comfortable working independently.
- Curious and eager to keep learning.
- A strong communicator who enjoys meeting new people.
- Organized and attentive to detail.
- Comfortable using computers and learning new technology.
- Able to lift boxes of books (up to approximately 35 pounds) and remain on your feet for much of the shift.
- Passionate about books, creativity, learning, or the natural world.
Technology
We use Shopify for our point-of-sale system, inventory management, and online orders.
Previous Shopify experience is a plus, but not required—we're happy to train the right person.
Bonus Skills
Not required, but we'd love to hear if you have experience with:
- Independent bookstores
- Retail or customer service
- Merchandising or visual displays
- Social media or photography
- Writing book reviews or recommendations
- Arts, crafts, woodworking, gardening, or other maker communities
