Summer Acting Camp - Los Angeles: Teaching Artist (Acting)
Camp Location: University Prep Value High School
1929 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90006
Camp Schedule & Key Dates
- Camp Runs: Monday-Friday, June 29 - July 17 (attendance required daily), there is no camp on July 3rd.
- Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM (6.5 paid hours per day; 1-hour unpaid lunch)
- Final Performance: Friday, July 17 (evening commitment through 9:00 PM – required) OR Saturday, July 18th (all day)
- All-Staff Training: Sunday, May 31st (3 hours - required)
- Curriculum Training: Most roles: 1-2 hour Zoom training in late May. Select teaching roles: Additional 2-hour in-person training (scheduled separately)
- Job Shadow Days: These will happen at our La Canada location in June. Mileage will be paid, and your time on-site will be paid. The date(s) will be finalized as we get closer; attending one of these days is required.
- Camp Set-Up: Saturday, June 27 (all day - required)
About the Role
Teaching Artists lead engaging, structured classes in:
- Acting
- Character Development
- On-Camera Technique
- Improv
All curriculum is provided. It is a requirement to deliver the provided curriculum engagingly.
Staff rotate through different age groups (5-17 years old) throughout the day. Each class is repeated three times for different groups of students. Students are grouped by age, and staff support learning and engagement at every level.

Qualifications
- Experience teaching children ages 5-17 in theatre or performing arts
- Strong foundation in acting technique (character work, voice, physicality, stage presence)
- Experience teaching script analysis, scene work, pacing, and memorization strategies
- Knowledge of blocking, spatial awareness, and ensemble movement
- Skilled in leading improv and collaboration-based exercises
- Familiarity with on-camera fundamentals (marks, framing, stage vs. film adjustments)
- Strong classroom management skills
- Ability to scale instruction for varying skill levels and ages

Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Experience teaching or directing youth (ages 5-17)
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Theatre, Performing Arts, Education, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience directing youth productions or showcases
- Availability for the full camp schedule and all required trainings
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work to arrive on time for scheduled shifts
- Willing to complete a background screening, fingerprinting (Livescan), and TB Testing
Compensation
All staff are hired as hourly employees. 2026 Teaching Artist Rate: $24.00–$25.00 per hour
New employees are typically hired at the base rate. Returning employees may fall within the posted range based on years of service, experience, education, certifications, and performance.
