What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Breast Center position at Summa Health?
Guided by the knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho-social sciences assumes responsibility through nursing process. Provides and coordinates care and coordination of patients within the Breast Center with the goal of attaining, maintaining, and restoring optimum health. Ensures timely access to quality breast healthcare and provides support throughout the diagnostic continuum of care for breast health. Collaborates with RN Coordinator of Breast Health, physicians, technologists, and other team members to provide the patient with appropriate care. Serves as a primary patient/family educator and advocate ensuring the patient receives optimal care and services.
Assists with exams, procedures, and treatment as needed. Administers medications when ordered. Monitors condition and status of patient before, during, and after procedures as required. Provides patient education and acts as liaison for patients and their families using the Interdisciplinary Care Model.
Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)- Applicants with an Associate’s degree will be considered but are required to obtain BSN within three (3) years of employment
c. Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
- BLS certified
Experience & Training:
-Two (2) years relevant clinical experience for the following relevant areas: radiation therapy- medical oncology, or other applicable experience preferred
- Willingness to complete and receive NCBC Breast Patient Navigator Certification within 2 years of hire
