What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Dietitian - Weight Management position at Summa Health?
Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to patients enrolled in the Summa Health Non-Surgical and Surgical Weight Management Programs, as well as to other patients of the Bariatric Care Center needing MNT. Provides discharge teaching regarding post-op diet protocols to all surgical patients. Teaches classes in each program. Manages all phone calls from patients with nutrition questions. Reviews nutritional value lab results and implements standing orders for vitamin replacement. Collaborates with surgeons, physicians, psychologists, nurses and all other members of the weight management treatment team.
Formal Education Required :
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or closely related field of study
- Registered and licensed dietitian (RD)
Experience & Training Required :
- 1-2 years of position related experience in the care of patients d needing non-surgical and surgical weight management strongly preferred
- Certified as Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or willing to obtain within 1-2 years.
- Ability to operate a computer
- Population Specific Competency: ability to effectively interact with patients/customers who are of varying degrees of overweight and obesity, with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
