The Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area, consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2,000 students enrolled K-12. Students are currently served by two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and an alternative high school; and the Sno-Isle Skills Center, a cooperative vocational technical school.

Located northeast of Seattle (seven miles east of Monroe) or about 20 minutes from the Woodinville area, Sultan is surrounded by a beautiful environmental setting. Our "backyard" is the scenic Skykomish River and Cascade Mountains. Sultan School District includes the community of Sultan, Startup, and Gold Bar. Students from Index attend Sultan High School.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
Assist with the coordination and facilitation of the SHS band program. This includes: assisting with the articulation with the middle school; assisting with marching and concert bands; supervising color guard; communicating between disciplines, schools, parent support groups, and community.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Flexible schedule
- 20-30 hours at band camp in August
- Monday and Wednesday evenings through fall and spring (2 hours each day)
- Attendance at fall field show competitions (2-4 events)
- Attendance at 3-5 Pep Band performances (during basketball games)
- Occasional attendance at other events, concerts, practices, and performances
- Possible work on the musical in winter
- Possible attendance at marching band trip in May
- Other duties as assigned
STUDENT MANAGEMENT:
- Provides assistance with supervision of all students involved in the production.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some musica training (preferred)
- Ability to read music; lead rehearsals; conduct
- Ability to communicate with high school aged sudents
- Work with the Band Director
- Take direction
- Work in a team setting
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Washington State Teacher Certificate with appropriate endorsement for this position per the SEA CBA.
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act.
