Assist on slaughter days. This includes skinning, dressing, and splitting the carcass in a timely and sanitary manner.Assist with maintenance and sanitary practices on all floors (slaughter floor, processing floor and sales floor).Helping to process a variety of species and assist with preparing all meats for the sale floor and custom processed animals for individual community members.Processing practices include using saws and knives to cut specialty steaks and roasts, using the grinder to produce ground products, and using the vacuum sealer to package and label all meat products.Duties also include running the sales counter when available to do so.Follow all sanitary practices set in place by the plant’s HACCP plan.* Be aware, most of our time is spent processing in a cooled room (40 deg F) to keep our meat products at a certain temperature to reduce spoilage and you may be requested to lift around 50 lbs. regularly.Security Sensitive:This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094, which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants.Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
