SSVEC is seeking a Substation Apparatus Technician to join our team in Willcox, Arizona.
In this hands-on role, you will help ensure safe, reliable electric service for our members across southeastern Arizona.

About the Role
The Substation Apparatus Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and improving the reliability of SSVEC's electric system. This position involves the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of substation and line equipment, as well as responsibilities for diagnostics, compliance, and recordkeeping.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, operate, inspect, and maintain substation and line apparatus equipment
- Perform diagnostic testing and analysis on transformers and substation systems
- Maintain and repair voltage regulators, circuit breakers, switchgear, and related equipment
- Support equipment upgrades and installations in coordination with internal teams, contractors, and utilities
- Conduct oil sampling, environmental compliance activities, and maintain accurate records
Journeyman Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Substation Apparatus Technician Apprenticeship program
- Demonstrated proficiency through on-the-job evaluation
- Associate's degree in Electric Power Technology (preferred)
Pre-Apprentice Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory (preferred)
Candidates must be able to obtain a valid Arizona Commercial Driver's License and successfully complete standard pre-employment screenings, including physical, drug screening, and background checks.
