OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (OT)
POSITION:
A management position reporting to the Director of Special Education
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as member of the educational team at all assigned sites and as a resource to school and agency personnel with regard to occupational therapy.
• Provide consultation to administrators, psychologists, teachers, parents, students, and agencies serving students as appropriate.
• Conduct occupational therapy assessments, submit reports, prepare Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) paperwork (goals/objectives) based on assessment results and in accordance with legal timelines.
• Provide occupational therapy as a related service to students with IEP goals and objectives.
• Supervise professional and technical staff, as needed, in the provision of occupational therapy services.
• Provide inservice training and consultation to both regular education and special education staff.
• Participate in training programs designed to improve competencies with regard to new materials, methods and techniques of assessment, current legislation, consultation skills, and best practices for occupational therapists.
• Adhere to ethical standards with regard to issues of confidentiality, referrals to practitioners and agencies, and case management.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
• California Board of Occupational Therapy licensure
• A valid California driver’s license and the ability to provide transportation between school sites.
• First Aid and CPR certification
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University in Occupational Therapy.
• Previous employment as an Occupational Therapist with children in a school based setting, or suitable combination of training and experience.
