What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Tea & Spice Sales Associate position at Sullivan Street Tea & Spice?
We are seeking an energetic, dependable, and customer-focused person to work in our lovely tea, spice and gift shop in the heart of Greenwich Village. This position is for 4-5 days per week (Sundays are a must).
Do you have a passion for fine tea? Are you eager to learn about the world of herbs and spices? If so, we would love to hear from you. As a Tea & Spice Sales Associate, you’ll help customers explore our selection of loose-leaf teas, herbs, spices, blends, and specialty products.
Ideal candidate will have strong customer service experience, great communication and organizational skills, and a keen eye for retail merchandising. We ship online orders daily, so any relevant ecommerce experience will be helpful, but we can train the right person.

Responsibilities
- Providing excellent customer service
- Scooping, packaging and sales of tea and spices
- Packaging and shipping products for online orders
- Visual merchandising
- Product inventory management
- Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the shop
- Artfully assembling our handmade gift boxes
- Cash-handling and use of retail POS system
- Preparing and serving cups of tea and iced tea to go

Qualifications

- Excellent communication skills to engage with customers effectively
- Basic math skills for handling cash and processing sales
- Experience in stocking and merchandising products in a retail setting
Pay: From $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
