VALVE ASSEMBLY

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for disassembly, inspection, re-assembly and paint/powdercoating of new and repaired control valve products in a rapid response environment. Repaired products will be function-tested, properly documented, and prepped for blasting and painting. Internal parts will be prepped quickly for critical dimension checks and necessary machining. New and repaired equipment will be assembled in an expeditious manner. All equipment, including instrumentation, will be tested through a series of seat, hydrostatic, and valve & instrument diagnostics programs in adherence to strict quality guidelines.

PRINCIPLE JOB DUTIES

  • Perform all manufacturing, tear down, assembly and painting of valves & associated products
  • Understand and operate equipment properly and safely
  • Meet production requirements
  • Follow all principles and practices of painting and blasting, including prepping parts for coating and operating all equipment including paint guns, hoppers and booth collection systems.
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects.
  • Determine quality by performing visual inspections or by using coating thickness gage.
  • Ensure that all components are produced/painted/coated efficiently and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance.
  • Understand and apply safety & quality requirements
  • Regular attendance is essential

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 5 years experience in valve manufacturing; or combination of Associates degree/certificate in instrumentation and 2 years’ experience
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Basic computer skills/data entry
  • Read/understand basic blueprints
  • Must be able to work overtime hours as required, especially during plant outages & turnarounds
  • Use effective communication skills, possess positive attitude & work in a team environment
  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment regularly.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE, including but not limited to: safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots and other equipment regularly.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50-100 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand for 8 or more hours daily/regularly.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl regularly.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the technician is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, and electrical equipment in both high and low voltage/amperage ranges, and occasionally exposed to high places, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasional high.
