Terminal Safety Specialist
The Terminal Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, and continuously improving health and safety programs and regulatory compliance activities across Texas International Terminals' facilities in line with the company’s core values. This position reports directly to the Director of HESS.
Responsibilities:
- Promote a strong safety culture bymaintainingvisible field presence and actively engaging employees and contractors on safe work practices.
- Develop, implement, andmaintaincompany safety policies, procedures, and standard operating practices.
- Maintain readiness for regulatory inspections, audits, and agency interactions.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments across terminal operations.
- Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and compliance events using root cause analysis methods todetermineunderlying causes and contributing factors.
- Manage process safety and compliance tracking systems/software, including review of reported incidents, facilitation of weekly incident review meetings, and tracking of open items and corrective actions through completion.
- Develop, assign, track, and verify completion and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions to ensure sustainable resolution and prevent recurrence.
- Identifyoperational risks and implement mitigation strategies to reduce incidents and improve safety performance.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs, recurring safety training and onboarding for employees and contractors.
- Monitor key safety and compliance performance indicators and report trends to leadership.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce incidents and strengthen compliance programs.
- Maintain assigned compliance calendars, action item trackers, and program documentation in a complete and current condition.
- Ensurealignment with departmentalobjectivesand company standardsand programs.
- Maintainaccurateand organized records of incidents, inspections, training activities, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline, or relevant safety certifications.
- Ten or moreyears’ experience in Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security,ORanyappropriate combinationof education and experience.
- Proficiencyin Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA,USCG,and EPArules and regulations.
- Effective organizational skills to prioritize within tight deadlines.
- Must be highly motivated, self-starter whopossessesstrong interpersonal skills, capable of building strong positive relationships.
- Visible behavior-lead by example.
- Collaborate with others to achieve the best results and deliver the most value.
- Mustpossessa valid driver’s license and TWIC.
- Must be available and flexible to work, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods in terminal and industrial environments.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around bulk materials, railcars, vessels, tanks, and heavy equipment.
- Ability to perform inspections involving bending, kneeling, and working in confined or restricted spaces.
- Exposure to industrial conditions including noise, temperature extremes, and hazardous materials.
- Must be able to perform work wearing PPE including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, safety harness, FRC, hard hat, ear plugs, safety glasses, etc.
