Human Resource Generalist
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the HR department, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance support, and performance management coordination. This role serves as a key resource for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures while fostering a positive and productive work environment. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with strong communication and problem-solving skills. Roles:
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Manage the execution and coordination of full-cycle recruitment process, from job posting and candidate screening to interview coordination and onboarding. Ensure a smooth and positive experience for new hires by facilitating orientation and integrating them into the company culture. Maintain effective partnerships with hiring managers to meet workforce needs.
- Employee Support & Relations: Serve as a resource for employee questions, offering guidance on HR policies, procedures, and programs. Address workplace concerns and assist in conflict resolution to foster a supportive and respectful work environment. Promote employee engagement and open communication. Escalate employee relations matters requiring investigation, legal review, or leadership action to the HR Manager in accordance with established protocols.
- HR Compliance & Records Management: Maintain accurate employee records in accordance with company standards and legal regulations. Support compliance efforts related to all federal, state, and local labor laws, including documentation and reporting requirements. Assist in the development and communication of HR policies to ensure consistency and transparency.
- Benefits & Training Administration: Support the administration of employee benefits, including enrollment, open enrollment, and addressing employee questions. Coordinate and facilitate training programs that enhance employee skills and contribute to overall workforce development. Track participation and completion of training programs.

Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage the HR inbox and physical mail, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional responses.
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including alignment meetings with hiring managers, posting job openings, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and extending offers in accordance with approved compensation and hiring guidelines.
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including pre-employment screening, orientation, paperwork completion, parking pass and timecard issuance, and coordinating integration into the organization.
- Responsible for escalating issues and time-sensitive matters to leadership in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, questions, and claims processing in a timely manner.
- Administer and track boot and safety‑glasses vouchers to ensure accurate distribution and recordkeeping.
- Process employee job, pay, reporting structure, and status changes in ADP in accordance with company policy and established workflows.
- Enter and maintain employee data in ADP accurately and timely, following established procedures and approval workflows.
- Assist employees with leave requests and required documentation. Coordinate leave intake and paperwork (FMLA, ADA, Personal Leave) and tracking leave status with escalation as needed, ensuring documentation is routed appropriately.
- Support offboarding activities, including exit paperwork, equipment coordination, and exit interviews.
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (including EEO, FMLA, ADA, and OSHA) by following established policies, maintaining required documentation, and escalating potential risks or concerns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.
- Serve as a resource for employees and managers, addressing concerns, answering questions, and resolving workplace issues in a timely, fair and consistent manner.
- Promote a positive workplace culture by supporting employee engagement initiatives and conflict resolution efforts.
- Support the performance review process by coordinating timelines, tracking completion, and assisting managers with feedback and development plans.
- Identify opportunities for employee training and development to enhance skills and career growth.
- Communicate and enforce company policies, procedures, and HR practices to ensure consistency across the organization.
- Provide recommendations for updates to policies based on changes in regulations or business needs.
- Support monthly HR audits by preparing documentation, reviewing records for completeness, and assisting with follow‑up actions as assigned.
- Partner with the HESS team to promote workplace safety and assist in coordinating employee safety training and compliance initiatives.
- Participate in HR-related projects, such as organizational development, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and process improvement efforts.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Preferred 1-3 years of experience in an HR generalist or similar role, preferably in an industrial or terminal environment.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
