What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ag Equipment Operator position at Suhr & Son Trucking LLC?
Observe and listen to machinery operations to detect equipment malfunctions. Manipulate controls to set, activate, and
adjust mechanisms on machinery. Maintain farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions.
Attach farm implements used in harvesting to tractors. Drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools, farm workers, or
equipment. Drive and operate farm machinery to harvest. Tow harvesting equipment.
Perform incidental repairs. Perform routine maintenance and inspection of machinery used in conjunction with
harvesting duties. This may include clean and lubricate parts, change oil or other fluids.
Load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading, using special loading-related equipment or other
equipment as necessary. Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, 25% or
less of the time during the application period, to transport and deliver harvested crops. Properly secure cargo for
transport. Report on any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles. Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and
equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition for
daily use. Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with
regulations. If required perform emergency repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, or
spark plugs on harvesting equipment. Any tasks derived from a Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) other than
the SOC designated in this job order are strictly incidental in nature, performed only on an occasional basis, and
constitute less than the majority of the contractual period, and shall not be construed as reflective of the primary
occupation for which certification is sought.
