What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista position at Sugar&Sip Coffee and Workshop?
About Us
We’re a new, independent coffee shop with a big heart and a deep respect for the craft of coffee. While we’re just getting started, our vision is clear: to build a welcoming, community-rooted space where every cup is made with care and every guest feels at home.
We’re looking for experienced baristas who can help us bring this vision to life — professionals who love coffee, value hospitality, and are excited to shape a meaningful café culture from day one.
Who You Are
- You have 1 years of experience in specialty coffee (manual brewing, dialing in espresso, milk steaming, etc.)
- You’re confident behind the bar and capable of working independently or leading a shift
- You take pride in quality, cleanliness, and efficiency
- You care about hospitality, not just transactions — you want to make people’s day
- You’re curious, humble, and open to collaboration — including teaching and guiding others
Responsibilities
- Prepare consistent, high-quality coffee and espresso drinks (manual and/or semi-automatic machines)
- Dial in espresso daily and adjust based on taste, time, and flow rate
- Steam milk with proper texture for lattes, flat whites, and cappuccinos
- Maintain a clean, organized bar and workspace throughout the shift
- Engage warmly with customers and help create a welcoming environment
- Support café operations: restocking, opening/closing, and team communication
- Help train or guide less experienced staff as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year barista experience in a specialty coffee environment
- Strong working knowledge of espresso extraction and milk texture
- Familiar with common brew methods (pour-over, batch brew, etc.)
- Able to multitask efficiently under pressure
- Food Handler Certification (or willing to obtain upon hire)
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly pay (based on experience), tips, and event pay
- Flexible scheduling options
- A collaborative, low-ego team culture
- Opportunity to help shape the shop’s service, menu, and coffee philosophy
- Long-term growth potential — as we grow, you grow
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and a short message introducing yourself. We’d love to hear why you’re interested in this role, and what you love most about coffee.
We welcome baristas who want to lead with both skill and kindness. If you're passionate about coffee and ready to be part of something from the ground up — we’d love to meet you.
