GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is a crucial member of the Shipping & Receiving team, reporting directly to the Inventory Control Supervisor. This role is responsible for efficiently handling the shipping and receiving of goods, ensuring accurate documentation, and supporting overall warehouse operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: N/A
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process incoming shipments, verifying quantities and quality of items received.
- Prepare and pack outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy in labeling and documentation.
- Use inventory management systems to update and maintain accurate records of shipping and receiving activities.
- Collaborate with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate timely and accurate deliveries.
- Assist in conducting regular cycle counts and participate in physical inventory audits.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to shipments and inventory.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and compliance standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to facilitate smooth operations.
- Provide support to the Inventory Control Supervisor in various tasks and projects as needed.
- Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in record-keeping and data entry.
- Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures and safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
- Effective communication skills for interactions with team members, suppliers, and carriers.
LICENSES REQUIRED: Regular Class “E” Driver’s license.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations is preferred.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular attendance is required during normal working hours.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds
