What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director, Resort Services position at Sugar Bowl Resort?
This might be the best job in skiing … not because it's easy. Because very few people get the chance to help shape the experience of an 87-year-old mountain that means so much to so many people. Sugar Bowl is one of California's most iconic ski resorts. Generations have learned to ski here. Olympians have trained here. Families have returned year after year. It's a place with deep roots, strong traditions, and an incredibly bright future. We're in the middle of the largest investment program in Sugar Bowl's history, modernizing facilities, elevating the guest experience, and preparing this mountain for the next generation, while fiercely protecting the character that makes it special. Now we're looking for an exceptional leader to help guide that next chapter.
As Executive Director of Resort Services, you'll lead the teams that shape the guest experience every day, including Snowsports School, World Class Events, Guest services and Rental. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll bring these functions together into one high-performing team focused on delivering exceptional experiences on and off the snow. This is a role for someone who loves people, loves mountains, and loves building great teams.
Who You Are … first and foremost, you're a mountain person. Snowsport isn't just something you've worked in, it’s part of who you are. You've spent years immersed in the industry, whether that's coaching, instructing, competing, running events, developing athletes, or leading mountain operations. You've likely worked across multiple resorts, countries, or snow sport systems and bring a genuinely global perspective to the industry. You understand what skiing and riding mean to people because you've lived it yourself. Alongside that passion, you've led complex guest-facing operations, developed strong leaders, built and managed budgets, reported at an executive level and delivered results. Most importantly, you understand a simple truth: happy teams create happy guests. You build trust, hold high standards, and know how to bring people together around a shared purpose.
