Suffolk County Department of Health Services is seeking an Addictions Counselor Trainee. Location: Riverhead & Hauppauge KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Learns to Interview and screen individuals seeking admission to substance use disorder treatment programs; Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating an individualized treatment plan for each patient; Assists in providing individual and group counseling services; Helps monitor patient progress and makes recommendations for further treatment if necessary; Assists in conducting education and information sessions; Counsels patients regarding job training and placement, advise them of available social services, and refer them to other agencies if necessary.
