GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK |
|
Performs entry-level to intermediate clerical and administrative support tasks as part of a structured internship experience. Assists with a variety of office, communication, and organizational duties while gaining hands-on workplace skills. Work is completed under the supervision of a coordinator, mentor, or department director, with ongoing guidance and feedback. This role emphasizes skill development in communication, organization, technology, and professionalism. Duties may involve sedentary and light physical activities, use of standard office equipment, and participation in meetings, events, and collaborative tasks. |

This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, and some light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions. To succeed in the role of a student intern, candidates must be willing to positively receive and acknowledge feedback and positive criticism as they work toward developing a skill set specifically geared for the trade of their choice. Students will be reintroduced to the Virginia Department of Education 5 C’s which are critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and citizenship skills. Through the application of these concepts across various career pathways, students will be equipped with the tools needed to successfully transition into the workforce or post-secondary education. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school including or supplemented by courses in typing and some clerical and secretarial experience. |
