1560 IT SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK
|
|
Performs technical advanced troubleshooting, server management, software deployment, application management, system backup, and other related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Coordinator II Network Manager.
|
|
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications; visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside environmental conditions.

- Backups
- Responsible for all server backups as well as maintaining the integrity of those backups throughout the district
- Server OS & Application Management
- Endpoint software and update management
- Security Application management and deployment
- Manages access control and security cameras system configurations
- Printer management
- Manages our print management system as well as assists with network related troubleshooting related to the copiers across the district.
- Application management, configuration, setup, & troubleshooting
- Management of directory services & Authentication Systems Configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting
- Management of Cloud services
- Advanced Troubleshooting
- Digital Resource Compatibility evaluation
- Performs related tasks as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Thorough knowledge of computer operating systems and software applications
- Knowledge of software application requirements in order to determine compatibility
- Thorough understanding of Directory services
- Thorough understanding of automated application deployment
- Demonstrated understanding of modern programming languages
- Understanding of modern networking topologies and concepts
- Demonstrated ability to interact with vendors and the K-12 community
- A strong technical aptitude with the ability to logically troubleshoot and solve complex problems
- Self-motivated and possess a flexible, creative mind
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage time
- Effective verbal and written communication and customer service skills
- Detailed-oriented, ability to document work tasks
- Valid Driver’s License

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
|
|
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and minimum of 5 years hands-on experience managing/maintaining servers & applications in a complex environment that includes local and web-based applications.
Security certification required
