THIS POSITION HAS ON-SITE REQUIREMENTS.
The role of the Loan Processor is critical to the department. As the Loan Processor you will be responsible for contacting borrowers from all channels prior to and after loan booking to review and finalize all loan terms. The Loan Processor will also review and approve all supporting loan documentation for completeness and accuracy, and track and secures collateral liens.
Responsibilities:
- Review all supporting documentation submitted for loans prior to booking either through the direct or indirect channel
- Contact member or dealer, as appropriate, to obtain additional information/documentation, as needed
- Process applications received via the internet, contacting applicants concerning decision and information/documents needed
- Maintains loan files by obtaining supporting loan documentation and preparing each loan for closing
- Researches, inquires and attempts to find missing information on loan applications or routes to originator for follow-up
- Tracks lien information on vehicles, vessels, or real estate by inquiring with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Suffolk County or other governmental agencies
- Secures liens through appropriate agencies
- Liaisons with branch staff and Underwriters to assist or resolve loan application problems
- Backs up other departmental staff as necessary
- Achieves a minimum of "Satisfactory" rating on internal audits and examinations
- Accomplishes the credit union's mission by completing relevant duties as needed when requested by management or other staff members
Essential Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent along with one (1) year of employment experience with a Financial institution.
- Knowledge of loan application and approval processes
- Knowledge of loan processing procedures
- Knowledge of the following regulations: Truth in Lending, HMDA, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Uniform Commercial Code, HUD, RESPA, Fair Housing Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act as well as lending related laws and other NCUA regulations
- Computer and software skills
- Experience in member/customer service
- Skill with independent problem-solving
- Ability to express oneself clearly and articulately both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle multiple deadlines
- Ability to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential information
- Ability to work with direct supervision of daily activities
