What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Infrastructure Manager position at Suffolk County Water Authority?
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain the organization’s IT infrastructure roadmap aligned with business, resiliency, and security objectives.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend modernization initiatives.
- Establish and enforce infrastructure standards, architecture guidelines, SLAs and governance.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of data centers, cloud platforms, networks, servers, and storage environments.
- Manage ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Oversee network, server, virtualization, storage, backup, and recovery environments.
- Manage Microsoft 365, collaboration platforms, and endpoint management solutions.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls and vulnerability management practices.
- Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing.
- Manage, mentor, and develop infrastructure, network, systems, and technical support teams.
- Drive accountability, operational efficiency, and service quality across infrastructure services.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support workforce and resource planning.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service-level agreements for infrastructure services.
- Develop and manage capital and operating budgets.
- Lead infrastructure components of enterprise IT initiatives and projects.
- Collaborate with the PMO and stakeholders on project timelines, risks, and communications.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- 7 years of infrastructure engineering experience required.
- 3 years leadership or management experience required.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise networking, server, virtualization, and cloud environments.
- Proficiency with VMware, Windows Server, and Linux platforms (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu).
- Experience with enterprise firewalls, switching, routing, and wireless networking, including Palo Alto, Aruba, or ProCurve technologies.
- Experience supporting multi-site environments and working within ITIL-based operational frameworks
- Certifications such as ITIL, CCNP, Azure/AWS are a plus.
- Experience in regulated environments (Utilities, Government, Healthcare) is a plus.
