NEIGHBORHOOD AIDE

The District Attorney’s Office is seeking one candidate to serve in the title Neighborhood Aide in our Office of Community Affairs. The incumbent will work in close cooperation with SCDA Community Relations Assistants and assist with existing staff in community relations projects. Work involves considerable telephone and/or personal contact with constituents and community groups as well as assisting with scheduling and other clerical duties, and performing related work as required, including attending community events on behalf of SCDA.

Please note that a successful candidate must be willing to work a flex schedule as many SCDA and community events occur on nights and weekends.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

A successful candidate will possess skill in conducting interviews; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the general public; ability to communicate with and explain the SCDA's policies and procedures to people from various backgrounds and groups; ability to maintain records and prepare reports; ability to follow oral and written instructions; tact; courtesy.

Bilingual or multi-lingual capabilities are preferred but not required.

SALARY & BENEFITS
Approximately $42,000 with some flexibility depending on experience.

In addition, we comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and one (1) year of experience in the performance of community or social service work.

NOTE: Additional education beyond high school from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State may be substituted for the required experience.
