Role Description
We are seeking a hands-on and technically capable Robot Technical Support Engineer (Field Service Engineer) to support deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and system updates of our mobile robot platform.
This role requires strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills, hardware repair capabilities, and basic Linux/system deployment experience. You will work closely with R&D and customers to ensure robots operate reliably in real-world environments.
Responsibilities
1. Hardware Maintenance & Repair
- Perform on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of robotic systems
- Diagnose and replace hardware components including: Mechanical/structural assemblies, motors, encoders, and actuatorsSensors, cameras, LiDAR, and related peripherals, wiring harnesses, power systems, control boards, and industrial PCs
2. System Deployment & Software Update Support
- Assist R&D teams in deploying robot software/system updates
- Execute system maintenance and deployment tasks in Linux environments, including:
- Software/package installation and updates
- Script execution and configuration changes
- Service management and restart
- Log collection and basic troubleshooting
- Network and connectivity setup
3. Field Support & Customer Success
- Support robot deployment, testing, and acceptance at customer sites
- Respond to field issues and drive root-cause analysis with engineering teams
- Document troubleshooting procedures, issue reports, and maintenance records
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with R&D, QA, and Product teams to provide field feedback
- Help improve service manuals, SOPs, and troubleshooting documentation
- Support hardware validation and failure analysis for new product iterations
Qualifications
1. Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or related field
2. 2 years of experience in robotics, automation equipment, industrial machinery, or field service engineering
3. Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability
4. Able to independently perform:
- Mechanical disassembly/assembly/adjustment
- Electrical component replacement and wiring
- Hardware fault diagnosis and repair
5. Familiar with Linux command-line operations, able to perform:
- SSH remote access
- File/directory management
- Shell script execution
- Software/package installation and updates
- Service management (systemctl / Docker preferred)
- Network configuration and log inspection
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with ROS / ROS2
2. Experience supporting mobile robots / AMRs / AGVs / service robots
3. Previous experience in robotics field deployment / technical support / FAE roles
