SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the overall execution and performance of the assigned operation area(s). Oversight includes responsibility for the financial health of the assigned operation(s), ownership of staffing, customer relations, performance, and direction of the operation(s) within the organization. This position is responsible for tackling complex problems that affect both the company and customers and works to resolve them with innovative solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and manages the operation(s) overall performance strategy.
  • Responsible for overseeing New Customer Implementations.
  • Manages P&L responsibilities ensuring decisions and practices coincide with budgetary goals.
  • Determining and developing the operational staffing plan in line with operational managers, revising where necessary.
  • Ensure that practices, policies, and procedures are in place and consistently implemented.
  • Negotiates with Vendors, Contractors, and Service Providers to secure best value/service standards are met.
  • Institute Lean management and/or other management strategies such as continuous improvement plans.
  • Plan annualized equipment and staffing needs for budgetary purposes.
  • Track key performance measurements and ensure process improvement strategies are identified and incorporated.
  • Keeps senior leadership well informed of all matters relating to performance, personnel issues, customer developments or concerns, etc.
  • Conduct meetings and training sessions designed to inform and improve upon performance of staff members.
  • Ensure operational leadership team is adequately prepared for success. Evaluate staff performance – expanding, modifying, and/or abandoning strategies and/or tactics as necessary, based on conclusions reached.
  • Establishing effective communication and relationships with customers to ensure performance measurements and goals are understood/achieved.
  • Implement and enforce company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Develop, recommend, and manage annual operation budget.
  • Drive initiatives that contribute to long-term excellence.
  • Responsible for compliance with Local, Federal, and State legislation pertaining to personnel, equipment and building matters.
  • Coordinates, resolves, and responds to issues as they pertain to the Operations performance.
  • Works cohesively with other departments to ensure alignment with company initiatives and programs.
  • Work with IT to maintain and fully utilize TMS and other systems.

QUALIFICATONS

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related discipline required. Master’s Degree preferred. Must possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in transportation, logistics, final mile or supply-chain related field. Lean/ Six Sigma certification or experience preferred. Experience independently owning a P&L required. Experience operating in and with in-depth knowledge of various IC operating models.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of WMS and labor tracking systems (HighJump or Korber One) required. Ability to manage time effectively and consistently meet deadlines. Ability to adapt and manage effectively in a fast paced, changing environment. Demonstrates financial understanding and the implications of financial decisions. Ability to deal with all types of contracts using effective diplomacy and interpersonal skills. Strong planning and organizational skills. Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility and patience. Ability to express ideas clearly (verbal and written) to individuals and in group situations. Excellent communication, decision making, and problem-solving skills. Superior communications, presentation and analytical skills. Ability to work under minimal supervision and with a strong sense of self-motivation.

Travel:

Ability to travel within the United States up to 40% of the time.
