Senior Director of AI and Technology
Veterinary United — Family-Owned. Forward-Thinking. Powered by Purpose.
About Us
Veterinary United is a family-owned and veterinarian-led network of 24 practices across Southeast Michigan, dedicated to transforming veterinary medicine through innovation, compassion, and empowerment. Our mission is to create an environment where people, pets, and practices can thrive. We believe in five core values: Inspire, Empower, Lead, Evolve, and Believe.
As we grow, we’re investing deeply in technology as a force multiplier — improving efficiency, enhancing patient care, and supporting every team and department with the systems they need to do their best work.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Director of AI and Technology to lead the evolution of our technological ecosystem and drive practical, high-impact innovation across Veterinary United. This role blends long-term strategy with hands-on execution, overseeing AI adoption, data systems, infrastructure, and digital solutions that empower our teams and streamline operations across all practices.
The ideal candidate is forward-thinking, collaborative, and highly technical — someone who understands the possibilities of AI, automation, data engineering, and systems architecture, and can translate those possibilities into solutions that measurably improve workflow, efficiency, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
AI Integration & Strategy
Develop and execute a scalable AI roadmap that enhances efficiency, improves outcomes, and supports every function — recruiting, operations, inventory, finance, HR, marketing, and clinical workflows.
Identify automation opportunities that reduce manual work and elevate team performance.
Innovation & Technology Leadership
Evaluate emerging technologies to determine feasibility and ROI for a multi-location veterinary organization.
Lead implementation of AI tools, automation platforms, and machine learning solutions that elevate the client, patient, and employee experience.
Cross-Department Partnership
Work closely with leaders in Recruiting, HR, Finance, Operations, and Marketing to understand pain points and implement data-driven, tech-forward solutions.
Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on AI, systems optimization, and digital transformation.
Systems Architecture & Integration
Oversee unification and improvement of core systems (HRIS, ERP, CRM, PIMS, inventory systems, etc.).
Ensure platforms communicate seamlessly and support accurate, timely reporting and analytics.
Data Analytics & Insights
Build and maintain dashboards, predictive models, and analytic tools that empower leadership to make informed, data-driven decisions.
Establish data standards, governance, and best practices across the organization.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Maintain high standards of security, privacy, and regulatory compliance across all systems and processes.
Implement strong data protection, network security, and backup solutions.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and mentor a growing technology team focused on innovation, agility, and problem-solving.
Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What You Bring
Leadership experience in technology, digital transformation, or innovation within a multi-location, healthcare, or complex operational environment.
Strong technical expertise in AI implementation, automation, data engineering, and system integrations.
Deep experience with systems architecture, cloud infrastructure, SaaS platforms, Windows domain environments, cybersecurity, and enterprise backup solutions.
Proven ability to align technology initiatives with business priorities and measurable outcomes.
Excellent cross-functional communication skills; able to translate technical concepts into organizational impact.
A strategic yet hands-on approach — equally comfortable designing the roadmap and executing the details.
