What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Systems Engineer (Marine Robotics) position at Success Matcher Recruitment?
About the Opportunity Our client is an innovative technology company building the future of subsea inspection and marine robotics. They are developing autonomous surface vessels capable of deploying underwater ROVs to inspect critical global infrastructure—from the fiber optic cables that power the internet to the pipelines supplying the world’s energy. We are looking for a hands-on Electrical Systems Engineer to own the vessel-wide electrical architecture. In this role, you won't just be designing small components; you will architect the entire electrical ecosystem, from propulsion and energy storage to power distribution and communications. If you thrive in fast-paced startup environments and want to build production-ready systems that operate in harsh ocean conditions, this is the role for you. What You’ll DoOwn the Architecture: Take full ownership of vessel-wide electrical architecture, including propulsion, energy storage, power distribution, control, and communications systems.System Design: Define system topologies, interfaces, and grounding/shielding strategies to ensure maximum safety, robustness, and serviceability in marine environments.Schematic Development: Create block diagrams, power-tree diagrams, and system-level schematics to guide PCB, harness, and enclosure designs.Power Management: Define and track power budgets and current paths across all subsystems, analyzing worst-case and transient conditions.Component Selection: Lead the evaluation and selection of power electronics, sensors, converters, and communication interfaces, balancing performance, environmental ratings, cost, and lifecycle.Collaboration & Compliance: Work closely with mechanical and software teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and maintainable. Support compliance efforts (Electrical safety, EMC, Marine standards). Why Join?Cutting-Edge Robotics: Move beyond standard electrical engineering to build autonomous surface vessels and subsea ROVs.Total Ownership: You aren't a cog in a machine; you are the architect of the machine. You will own the design from concept to production.Global Impact: Your work ensures the reliability of the infrastructure that connects and powers the world.Production Focus: This is a high-impact role where you will take prototypes and mature them into production-ready systems.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.Proven experience in electrical system architecture (preferably in robotics, automotive, aerospace, or marine sectors).Experience with power distribution, energy storage, and electromechanical systems.Ability to work on-site in El Segundo, CA.Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
