Why Join Us?
At Subway, “better” is baked into our DNA. We are a brand that believes in continued improvement … in our lives, our businesses, and our planet. From the handshake that started our very first sandwich shop to earning our position as one of the world’s leading restaurant brands, we’ve always embraced change and the path ahead. And today, we're making better living way easier.
Our purpose is about more than the food we serve in our restaurants. It’s centered on fueling healthy businesses and healthier lives. It is one of the most exciting times to join the Subway team and contribute to our transformational journey.
About the Role:
Subway is one of the world's largest restaurant brands, serving customers across more than 100 countries and 37,000 locations. As part of a broader transformation of our global operations, we are formalizing and elevating our procurement function into a true strategic capability. A procurement team exists today. What does not yet exist is the structure, the influence, or the operational discipline to unlock its potential.
The VP, Procurement will be the leader who transforms an underutilized function into a centralized, high-impact capability. This leader will assess what exists, redesign what is not working, establish the systems and governance that are missing, and deliver meaningful savings to the business, all while building the credibility and cross-functional relationships that will make procurement a permanent strategic asset at Subway.
The savings opportunity is significant. The infrastructure is not yet in place. The right leader will see that as the point.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Function Build-Out
You will assess the current state of the procurement function, identify what is working and what is not, and redesign it into a high-performing operation. This includes organizational structure, operating model, governance frameworks, policies, and technology infrastructure. You will develop the existing team, make the right additions, and build the capability that Subway's scale demands. The architecture decisions you make in the first 18 months will shape the function for years.
Direct Procurement
Own the negotiation, management, and renewal of Subway's global beverage and snack contracts, including relationships with major partners such as Pepsi, Coke, and Dr. Pepper, as well as global packaging contracts. Subway's broader food supply chain is managed through a dedicated third-party cooperative, but these categories are negotiated directly and represent significant strategic and commercial value to the system. This leader will manage those contracts with rigor, ensure alignment with brand and franchisee needs, and identify opportunities to strengthen the value those partnerships deliver.
Indirect Procurement
Own the sourcing and vendor management strategy for all corporate and operational spend, including technology, professional services, facilities, travel, and corporate services. Establish category management frameworks where none currently exist. Drive visibility into tail spend and bring rigor to a historically decentralized set of buying decisions.
Franchisee Advertising Fund (FAF)
Oversee procurement for the Franchisee Advertising Fund, managing the sourcing and vendor relationships that support Subway's marketing spend on behalf of the franchise system. This is a significant and distinct spend category that requires both procurement discipline and a strong understanding of the franchisee relationship. The VP, Procurement will bring rigor to how those dollars are spent, ensuring value, accountability, and alignment with Subway's brand strategy.
Savings Delivery
Identify, size, and sequence savings opportunities across the full spend portfolio. Build the business case, engage the right stakeholders, and drive results to completion. You will be accountable for measurable cost savings targets and will report progress to senior leadership with transparency and precision.
Strategic Partnership
Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO and the broader executive team on all matters related to procurement strategy, vendor risk, supplier relationships, and market dynamics. Build credibility quickly across functions that have historically operated independently. This role requires as much organizational influence as it does technical expertise.
