At Suburban Testing Labs, we’re powered by purpose, precision, and forward momentum. We’re searching for a sharp, hands-on Supervisor with operational experience to oversee the daily activities of our sample receiving and processing dept. to ensure efficiency, productivity, and compliance with company policies and client specifications.

The selected candidate will directly supervise approx. 8 sample receiving and processing employees, monitor workflows, train staff, and resolve operational issues to meet performance targets and contribute to the organization's goals. Other responsibilities include serving as the 2nd shift supervisor on duty to support the second shift laboratory team. In this impact-driven role, you’ll own the flow of work in your dept., drive quality and accuracy, and elevate sample technician performance through coaching and leadership.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise and coordinate daily workflow of the assigned team, including scheduling, workload distribution, and resource allocation;
• Provide oversight and support for departmental issues, resolving when possible or escalating to leadership as needed;
• Set individual and team goals aligned with company objectives, monitor progress, and deliver constructive feedback through regular check-ins and performance evaluations;
• Ensure all activities and data comply with SOPs, accreditation requirements, and regulatory standards;
• Identify and implement solutions to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness;
• Collaborate with leadership, SMEs, and project managers on routine and non-routine testing initiatives;
• Coach, mentor, and train staff to support professional growth and strengthen team capabilities;
• Oversee compliance with QC procedures and address operational or technical issues as they arise;
• Promote a strong safety culture by modeling safe practices and enforcing organizational safety standards;
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and client satisfaction;
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

Requirements

What Makes You a Great Fit

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field preferred;
• Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience with a proven ability to lead and motivate teams, drive process improvements, and achieve performance goals;
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities with proven success in managing multiple projects and resolving technical issues;
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to create, analyze, and present data effectively.

Your Schedule and The Fine Print

• Must be able to work second shift hours, Monday through Friday,1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. EST;
• Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position;
• May be required to work outside of scheduled hours, including occasional weekends or holiday rotations, to accommodate client needs or workload demands;
• Minimal travel may be required to fulfill job responsibilities.
