Title: Project Manager (Land Survey)
Status: Exempt
Reports to: Department Manager
Location: NJ Based (Flanders, Wall, or Hackensack, NJ)
Salary Range: $120,000 – $150,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
General Characteristics
Individual shall be responsible for all aspects of the project delivery process for various survey assignments in support of our engineering design projects and can provide technical assistance/support as necessary. Individual shall have a strong work ethic and commitment to ensuring effective staff utilization and schedule coordination is essential for tracking day-to-day activities. Individual shall also oversee junior level staff performing technical tasks (such as drafting, modeling, field surveying, LiDAR scanning, etc.) required for the preparation of typical surveying deliverables including, but no limited to drawings, maps, descriptions, etc. Is proficient and knowledgeable of problems in and procedures required to be performed in accordance with applicable local, county, state and federal rules, regulations and industry practices. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience. Under minimal direction, can efficiently and effectively solve various problems and create solutions for successful project delivery in fulfillment of the established scope, schedule and budgeting goals for an assigned project. Must have the ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods as well as provide leadership and mentoring.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Anticipated Weekly level of effort on a percentage basis):
50% Technical Management, QA/QC Review of Project Plans and related surveying documents and deliverables.
20% Preparation of proposals, SOQ’s, etc.
20% On-the-Job mentoring and guidance of staff (at all levels), growth of staff and succession planning.
5% Business development, networking and conferences (focused on SCE’s existing clients)
5% Driving project delivery efficiency through process standards
Education
Requires, at minimum, bachelor’s degree from an accredited curriculum, or equivalent, plus appropriate continuing education.
Registration / Certification Status
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) required. Multiple state licensure is desired (NJ, NY and PA and/or others)

Experience & Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Land Surveying industry
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Proficient ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering/surveying drawings and documents including performing boundary retracement analysis and preparing written descriptions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.
- Proficient in Deltek Vision Project Management Software
- Competent with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Competent with Survey field data collection equipment (Trimble equipment is preferred). Includes, but not limited to GNSS RTK, Total Stations, terrestrial LiDAR scanners, etc.
- Competent with survey processing and LiDAR scanning software(s) such as Trimble Business Center or equivalent
- Experienced with photogrammetry / drone mapping software(s) such as Pix4D or equivalent
- Possess excellent communication and listening skills
- Ability to successfully manage tight deadlines and multitask
- Active member of professional society (Member grade)
- Publishes engineering papers, articles, textbooks, or make presentations, gives lectures, provides training, etc.
