Substitute Teacher Service is hiring a PCA to work 1:1 in an Autistic Support Classroom in Northeastern High School.
Secondary Schedule: (hours may vary by position):
~Monday through Friday - 7:00am-2:30pm
~Pay Rate : $20.00 per hour
Job Description:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with autism in classroom and school-based settings.
- Implement individualized supports as outlined in the student’s IEP and/or Behavior Support Plan (BSP).
- Maintain a safe and structured learning environment by using proactive behavior strategies.
- Support students with transitions, routines, and regulation throughout the school day.
- Assist with personal care needs (if applicable), including hygiene, feeding, and mobility support while maintaining student dignity.
Behavior & Safety-Focused Duties
- Respond calmly and professionally to escalating, aggressive, or self-injurious behaviors.
- Use approved de-escalation and crisis intervention strategies as trained.
- Monitor for early warning signs of behavioral escalation and intervene proactively.
- Follow district procedures for crisis situations, including requesting assistance when needed.
- Maintain personal and student safety using authorized protective techniques when properly trained.
- Accurately document behavioral incidents, injuries, and interventions per district policy.
Qualifications and Required Documents
- Candidate must be trained in SCM (Safety Crisis Management) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention); however, if a candidate has extensive experience working in a setting with students exhibiting aggressive behaviors, SCM training will be provided.
- Proof of a high school diploma or higher education
- A Pennsylvania Criminal Records check (Act 34) that is clean and less than 1 year old **
- A Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance History (Act 151) that is clean and less than 1 year old **
- A FBI Criminal History Record that is clean and less than 1 year old **
- Additional Onboarding Documents to be discussed during the hiring process.
This position may involve supporting students with significant behavioral needs, including aggressive, self-injurious, or disruptive behaviors. Risk of injury may be present. Staff must be able to implement approved behavioral and safety strategies and respond appropriately in crisis situations.
