General Manager

We are looking for a passionate, entrepreneurial General Manager to lead our NYC flagship and play a key role in shaping Subdued’s growth in the U.S. market. This is a unique opportunity to not only build and lead a high-performing store team, but to act as a true business owner—driving performance, culture, and brand presence in one of the most iconic retail locations.

The Role

As General Manager, you will oversee the overall success of our SoHo flagship, with full ownership of business performance, team leadership, and operational excellence. You will act as the key ambassador of the brand in NYC, setting the standard for culture, client experience, and execution, while partnering closely with HQ and leadership.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, fashion-driven environment and is excited to take on a more strategic leadership position within a growing international brand.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and drive overall store performance, including sales, profitability, and key KPIs (conversion, UPT, AUR)
• Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing leadership team and store staff
• Act as a true business owner, identifying opportunities to grow the business and improve operations
• Create and maintain a best-in-class, on-brand customer experience that reflects Subdued’s identity
• Oversee all aspects of people management, including recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance development
• Manage scheduling, staffing, and payroll with a strong focus on productivity and efficiency
• Ensure operational excellence across inventory management, stock flow, and visual merchandising
• Maintain and elevate brand standards across the sales floor and back of house
• Partner with HQ and senior leadership on performance insights, strategic initiatives, and U.S. market expansion
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture that drives engagement and retention

What We’re Looking For

• 5–8 years of retail management experience, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role (GM or equivalent)
• Experience managing high-volume or flagship locations; new store opening experience strongly preferred
• Proven ability to drive business results and lead teams in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate teams
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on, solution-oriented approach
• Passion for fashion and strong understanding of the Subdued brand aesthetic
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Availability to work weekends and peak retail periods
