Position Overview
Reporting to the VP Human Resources, the Sr. Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for independently leading a broad range of human resources activities in the areas of Talent Management, Performance Management, Compensation, Training & Development, Inclusion & Diversity, and Employee Relations. This position requires a highly communicative individual with exceptional interpersonal skills, broad knowledge of Human Resources functions, and strong business acumen.
Responsibilities
- Acts as the HR lead for assigned client groups and may be a delegate to the VP Human Resources when out
- Partners closely with the VP of Human Resources and HR Managers to drive process improvements and ensure consistent HR practices across the business
- Responsible for coaching, mentoring, developing and motivating HR team members at lower levels, and strengthening the bench of talent within the function
- Collaborates with key stakeholders in the development and implementation of strategic plans
- Responds to employee questions and concerns in a timely manner and manages and resolves complex employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations and working with legal counsel as needed
- Provides performance management guidance to leaders (coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions, including terminations)
- Collaborates with management in developing recruitment plans, retention strategies, identifying training needs, and advocating for continuous learning for employees where necessary, providing coaching and mentoring support where required
- Develops effective working relationships with client support groups and with works closely with management and employees to improve relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
- Assist in the updating and creation of HR policies and provides policy guidance and interpretation to management and employees
- Effectively collaborates with management to drive the execution of global HR processes and aspects of employee lifecycle, such as goal setting, performance management, compensation planning, talent reviews, etc.
- Assist client leaders in determining needs of the organization and develop strategic workforce plans, enabling the HR function to recruit, develop, and retain, top talent in alignment with the business strategy
- Establish and drive improvement on HR metrics and assist the functions in making decisions based on data
- Be the voice of the employee and advocate their needs to management while maintaining balance with the Company’s goals and vision
- Interacts and manages relationships with HR functions (Recruitment, Benefits, HRIS, etc.) and collaborate with peers and cross-functional HR teams to drive common initiatives, as well as share and implement best practices
- Promote a culture that reflects our company values, encourage outstanding performance, promote a positive work environment and reward productivity, establishing SubCom as an employer of choice
- Lead and/or assist with special HR projects as needed; including but not limited to project management, vendor management, change management, domestic and International employee communication and engagement
- Work with HR Recruiting to develop requisitions requests and offer recommendations in alignment with external market data, internal equity and Company guidelines
- Performs various administrative duties including but not limited to, data entry, filing, scanning, generating letters/mailings, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience required.
- 8 years of relevant experience in multiple HR functional areas required, Senior level HRBP experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships required
- Track record of successful deployment of talent development initiatives, as well as team building and leadership coaching
- Continuous improvement mindset; ability to design, implement and assess HR process, experience in Lean principals preferred
- Strong change management and communications practitioner
- Business acumen and talent management experience enabling effective coaching of functional leaders supported
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, Advanced experience with Excel preferred
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, lean organization
- Ability to translate data into people insights, and develop action plans to improve
- HR Experience in Manufacturing, Marine or commercial transportation industry strongly preferred
- Up to 10% business travel required
