Position Overview

Mechanical engineering intern will report to a senior member of the mechanical engineering team on the R&D team and will assist with current projects.

Responsibilities 

  • Assisting with the design, analysis, build, and/or test of projects for the R&D team
  • This position will provide an opportunity for a prospective engineer to experience working on real, open ended problems in an R&D environment. Experience with the entire design process from ideation thru prototype and test is often the standard and can include 3D modeling, finite element analysis, fabrication, and design of experiments.  
Qualifications:

Qualifications 

  • CAD experience
  • Basic drafting and understanding machine design
  • Bonus
    • FEA experience (structural or thermal)
    • Fabrication experience
    • Design for manufacturability experience
    • Automation and controls experience
    • opto-mechanical/optics experience
  • One year of engineering classes with focus on mechanical
  • Independently driven
  • Strong desire to learn new things and enjoys researching the answer
  • Interest in communications industry and/or working with established technology
