Position Overview
The EHS & Sustainability Coordinator supports the organization's Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and sustainability programs by coordinating compliance activities, data management, training, and performance tracking. This role assists with the implementation and maintenance of EHS management systems, sustainability initiatives, and related reporting, while helping ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement across SubCom. The coordinator works closely with EHS, organizational leadership and cross-functional teams to promote a strong safety culture, environmental stewardship, and responsible business practices.
Responsibilities
Weekly:
- Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of EHS programs, policies and management system.
- Responsible for supporting EHS & sustainability data management via databases, applications and SharePoint.
- Oversee EHS Corrective Actions. Ensure the proper investigation, reporting and corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee Contractor safety. Ensure that contractors are effectively evaluated, tracked, vetted and reviewed for EHS conformance.
- Support Behavior Based Safety Systems, Job Safety Analysis/Risk Assessment, EHS training, and safety committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Monthly:
- Report on compliance activities, including documentation, recordkeeping, and compliance tracking.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards for ESG metrics across organization.
- Complete method statements, risk assessments and other necessary Integrated Management System (IMS) documentation for EHS compliance on projects.
- Work closely with EHS leadership and cross-functional teams to support EHS and sustainability objectives.
- Ensure the ESG & materiality assessment process & metrics align with the organizational goals.
- Develop and implement training materials and assessments to support EHS Competency Assurance in EHS & ESG.
Quarterly:
- Conduct workplace, site, visits, inspections, and observations.
- Coordinate & advise on projects as needed and liaise with project managers.
- Assist in conducting annual audits to ensure compliance with EHS & ESG standards. Document any non-compliance issues & aid in closure. Liaise with external consultants and auditors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, health and safety or related scientific/engineering discipline preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ESG & related programs.
- Knowledgeable of OSHA, RCRA, DOT & EPA applicable laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of UK & EU standards a plus.
- Knowledgeable in Radiation & Laser Safety requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to document procedures and deliver EHS guidance and communication.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage concurrent projects.
- Computer literate; high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) databases, and EHS training data.
- Personal qualities of flexibility, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Interpersonal skills to build and maintain rapport, confidence and influence with peers and teammates both in person and remotely. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Advance certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, etc. will be considered along with experience.
- Must be reliable, capable of working independently and as a team member to develop and implement programs with EHS staff.
