Position Overview
The Director of Operational Project Management is a critical role in our ability to scale the business. The role is intended to lead the operations-wide identification, planning and execution of the major initiatives needed to deliver at greater volume. Along with strategic oversight into the project planning process, this role will act as the PMO (Project Management Office) overseer across the planning process and act as the direct project leader for multiple initiatives; supporting on the delivery of defined outcomes. This role will be tasked with helping the business establish an internal Project Management execution core competency. Over time, with significant project work completed by the business, this role will be tasked with hiring a long-term replacement.
Responsibilities
- Working with the COO and LT, develop a consolidated, prioritized list of initiatives the business needs to execute against to successfully scaling the business (deliver top and bottom-line results in-line with investor expectations).
- Develop Project Management standard tools and processes
- Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly reviews of progress against project plans
- Directly lead / manage multiple projects from initiation to completion
- Establish / Identify SubCom resources to lead initiatives; mentor and guide them toward successful project execution
- Develop metrics / KPI against major initiatives – including impact on KM of cable installed, cost per KM, general cost savings and other measures to assess the impact of this work
- Hire and mentor a small team and an ultimate replacement located in NH
Qualifications
- Exceptional organization skills
- Leadership capabilities as needed to drive cross-functional teams to deliver against project deliverables
- Strategic and tactical insights into business processes, organizational designs and employee behaviors
- Significant emotional intelligence – able to read situations and team dynamics and push through resistance or capability gaps
- Tech / Systems capabilities required to organize, maintain and communicate information. MS Project, Excel, PPT
- Executive presence – an ability to engage at all levels of the organization
- High-energy / drive required to deliver; understanding that team dynamics feed off leadership energy
- Financial and Operational acumen; continuous improvement mindset
