Automotive Parts Manager
Subaru & Volvo New Car Dealership
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Automotive Parts Manager to lead the parts operation for our Subaru and Volvo new car dealership. The ideal candidate will have strong dealership parts experience, excellent leadership skills, a firm understanding of inventory management, and the ability to support both service department productivity and wholesale parts growth.
Position Summary
The Parts Manager is responsible for the overall performance, profitability, organization, and daily operation of the parts department. This position will manage inventory, develop department employees, maintain strong relationships with technicians and service advisors, and ensure that the right parts are available when needed.
The successful candidate will maintain high levels of customer service while controlling expenses, reducing obsolescence, improving inventory accuracy, and meeting Subaru and Volvo manufacturer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all daily parts department operations.
- Hire, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate parts department employees.
- Maintain proper inventory levels based on dealership demand and manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor fill rate, stock order performance, emergency purchases, lost sales, special orders, and backorders.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and maintain a high level of inventory accuracy.
- Identify and reduce obsolete, aged, and non-moving inventory.
- Ensure parts are properly received, labeled, stored, billed, and distributed.
- Work closely with service managers, advisors, and technicians to improve shop productivity and repair-order cycle time.
- Develop and maintain wholesale, retail, internal, warranty, and collision parts business.
- Monitor departmental gross profit, pricing, expenses, discounts, and overall profitability.
- Review daily, monthly, and annual parts department financial statements and performance reports.
- Maintain proper controls for returns, cores, warranty parts, special-order parts, and manufacturer scrap requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Subaru, Volvo, dealership, safety, and environmental policies.
- Maintain clean, organized, secure, and professional parts storage and counter areas.
- Build strong working relationships with vendors, manufacturers, dealership leadership, and customers.
- Participate in department meetings and assist in developing dealership-wide operational improvements.
- Establish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable for results.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of automotive dealership parts experience.
- Previous experience as a Parts Manager, Assistant Parts Manager, or experienced Parts Counterperson preferred.
- Subaru, Volvo, or other import dealership experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dealership parts operations, inventory controls, and manufacturer ordering systems.
- Experience working with dealership management systems and electronic parts catalogs.
- Ability to read and understand departmental financial statements.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced dealership environment.
- Proven ability to improve profitability, inventory accuracy, employee performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.

Work Schedule
This is a full-time management position. The schedule may include some Saturdays based on dealership operating hours and business needs.
