What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Motor Grader/Equipment Operator III position at Stutsman County?
Overview:
We are seeking a District Motor Grader/Equipment Operator III to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in operating a variety of heavy machinery and equipment. Successful applicant must live in Streeter or within a reasonable distance to have the ability to get to the motor grader in case of an emergency.
This is a full-time position: Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m and overtime as needed.
Position Objective:
Maintain county and township roads, haul gravel and dirt, repair washouts, replace culverts and patch and build roads. Build roads to specification and design; suggest cure and possible corrective measures for grade and drainage issues to Township Supervisors.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Maintain roads through operating a variety of medium to heavy equipment including various types of trucks such as tandem and dump truck, oil distributors, bobcat, forklift, loader, Blade, snowplow, wing, payloader, lowboy, packer, sweeper, sand and fuel trucks. May specialize in operation of certain equipment during various seasons, may place and install signs. Operate air jack hammer, packer, rubber machine, hole patching machine.
- Build roads to exact specifications and design. Perform repair on bridges. Recommend corrective measures for curing grade and drainage issues to Township Supervisors. Communicate with township officials regarding road work requested.
- Maintain trucks and equipment. Change oil and grease equipment. Sweep shop floor and maintain general cleanliness.
- Perform various maintenance activities, including picking rocks, tearing down buildings, cutting trees and brush.
- Maintain records of work performed, including record equipment servicing, signs installation reports, and timesheets.
- Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.
Minimum Qualifications:
Position requires a minimum of 2-5 years related equipment operation experience or equivalent combination of education and experience and a valid CDL Class A license is required at the time of hire or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Knowledge of effectively working with similar equipment and supplies is important.
